Raisins: Safe for Dogs and Cats?

Raisins carry the same acute kidney failure risk as grapes for dogs, concentrated into a smaller serving, and even a couple can be dangerous.
Toxic principle: Tartaric acid

- vomiting
- diarrhea
- lethargy
- excessive thirst
- abdominal pain
- reduced or no urine production as kidney failure progresses

Raisins are treated the same as grapes for cats: capable of causing kidney failure, so vets recommend avoiding them entirely.
